Synopsis: 1990s. Northeast China. Many state-owned factories are in the process of being privatised and those that are not are struggling to survive. Not paying workers for months, theft is rampant, and it is security guard Gu Xuebing’s job to put a stop to the looting. Catching his neighbour’s son stealing from the factory, instead of turning him in, Gu decides to mentor the youngster.
